Should I Go or Should I Stay?

Sprout's little visit is fast coming to a close and I'm wondering if I should see him off at the airport or say my good-byes at home? Should I let Dad or girlfriend do the honors at the airport? I don't want to make it any harder for him than it already is. All these fare-wells are so hard to do. I know I won't cry in front of him at the airport, but my head might explode trying to hold it in. And he'll notice.

He's excited about going but that doesn't make leaving any easier. So what do you think? Should I go or should I stay? I'll probably go.

Any ideas of some nice little something to send him off with - it can't take up much room?

Maybe a small photo album that he can stick in his pack. You can usually find them at the Dollar store and they hold about 20 pictures. I did that with my 3 sons when they went of into the unknown (Air Force, Navy and Marine Corp) and they all loved it.

You should go. I went and it was the best thing I could have done. He left for Iraq a month later. He does this goodbye real quick thing. A hug and a kiss then turn and leave. He warns us first. "Just a QUICK goodbye" My husband wrote him a very long letter to read on the plane. I gave him some snacks and a book to read. I would not have missed it for anything.

you MUST go -- you will hate yourself in the morning if you don't! I went to the airport every time my son leaves and I went when he was deploying -- wouldn't have missed those moments with him for anything!

the photo album is a great idea... they love to show their pics... and put some of them up in their area... if he has a laptop, you can give him a disc of photos. I, too, wrote a letter to my son for the plane...
